Deposits and Payment:
If you have found the right Tiny Paw pup for you, then please e-mail us with your contact info and the puppy you are interested in. Do not send money, without confirming that your perfect Yorkie or Maltese is still available! After corresponding, we will let you know what form of payments we accept. We try our best to contact you as soon as possible! We don't mind talking to those with serious inquiries and all of our new puppy owners. Our families do come first though and we can't stop everything for every phone call, so please leave a message if we are unavailable. (Please understand that we all have 3 to 5 children. We often have to do business before the kids wake in the morning, during school or nap time and once they’re off to bed. And somewhere in all this, we try to give our husbands some time too!)

A $200 deposit is required to reserve most puppies. To hold a teacup pup, it will be $500. The full amount is required by the time the puppy is 8 weeks of age or within one week if the puppy is older than 8 weeks. If the full amount is not received by then we will make every effort to contact you, otherwise the reservation will be canceled and the puppy may be offered to another buyer. All deposits are non-refundable.

Shipping:
We are in Northern and Southern California, so we like to meet up with our wonderful California clientele. We also ship to almost anywhere in the continental U.S. from either the Sacramento International Airport when we’re in the city or from the Bakersfield International Airport when we’re at our homes in the mountains. Shipping usually costs $265 depending on the size of the puppy and that includes airfare, his shipping crate that you’ll keep, and his Interstate Health Certificate. Please keep in mind that everything is expensive in California! We do not make profit off of our shipping cost. We will pass our savings along if you get two pups at the same time or if we get a deal on airfare.

Yogurt: The Miracle Drug for Puppies
Plain yogurt can literally save your puppy's life. We recommend to everyone that takes a new puppy home to make sure you have a supply of plain or VANILLA flavored yogurt on hand for several days. This should be fed to your puppy a couple of times a day along with its normal diet. Please check the label and make sure it has the acidophilus culture and not the aspartame. Stress occurs when you take a new puppy out of its natural environment. This means that when you purchase a puppy and take it home, you are creating a stressful situation for this puppy. Stress kills off the good bacteria in the G. I. tract. When anything occurs out of the ordinary, it is stressful. Wormings, shots, shipping, and riding---all create stress for small animals. Plain yogurt culture puts the good bacteria back into the system so you will have a healthy puppy. So feed them all they want for the first couple of days until they adjust to the new environment. Yogurt can be force fed with a syringe in situations where your puppy has stopped eating and shows signs of being hypoglycemic.

HYPOGLYCEMIA:
This is the scientific name for a condition where the sugar level suddenly drops in a small animals system. The first signs of this problem is usually staggering and falling over as though they are drunk. Or they can be observed lying on their side paddling with their front feet as though they are swimming. If these symptoms are observed, you must act very quickly in order to save your puppy's life. YOU HAVE TO GET THE SUGAR LEVEL UP TO BRING THE PUPPY OUT OF THIS SITUATION. AND IT MUST BE DONE VERY QUICKLY. Usually you do not have time to get them to a Vet before they suffer irreparable damage. Honey is the best remedy for this situation. But if honey is not available, use Karo syrup or anything that is super sweet. If you don't have any of this on hand, then run about an inch of water in a coffee cup and stir in 2 or 3 teaspoons of sugar and stir quickly until it dissolves. Then you must get some of this mixture into the puppy. At this point, you will find the puppy clinch's it mouth shut and will not lap it up on it's own. By inserting a finger in the corner of the puppy's mouth you can pry it open far enough to get a fingertip covered with honey into it's mouth. Or in the case of the sugar water, an eyedropper, straw, or even dropping it through the opening in the mouth one-drop at a time from a spoon. Once the puppy gets a good taste of the sweet substance, it will usually start licking it's tongue out and will start to recover in a very short time. Please note that if it was necessary to use Karo syrup, this mixture is also a natural laxative. Do not be surprised if diarrhea should follow when relieving it's self. If your puppy is experience episodes of hypoglycemia, it is usually a sign that it is not taking in enough food or it has an underlying problem that may need medical attention. Sometimes, this problem can be corrected by just stirring in a teaspoon of sugar to the puppy's water supply daily until the episodes subside.

COCCIDIA:
This is an "opportunist protozoon" that lives in the bowels of all dogs. Did you understand that? ALL DOGS carry coccidia. But something has got to weaken the immune system of an animal for the protozoa to have an opportunity to take hold and start multiplying. That "something " is usually stress of one kind or another. A loose, stinky stool that can even have streaks of bloody mucus in it usually accompanies coccidia. Some Vets will explain coccidia to their clients by saying the animal is loaded with parasites. This is sometimes interpreted by that client that the animal has worms. Coccidia is not exactly a parasite but can be just as hard to get rid of . A daily supply of yogurt prevents coccidia from getting a foothold as it keeps a good balance of bacteria in the G. I. tract. So long as good bacteria exist in an ample supply in the gut, coccidia can not grow. Coccidia is shed in the stool like a virus. If the animal is not shedding it when a stool sample is taken, the animal can be misdiagnosed as being free of the protozoa. If your puppy is put on antibiotics of any sort, feed yogurt to replenish the good bacteria that is killed off by the antibiotic. It will in no way affect the antibiotic from completing it's job but may save your animal from secondary infections caused by an imbalance of good bacteria. When coccidia does exist in the G. I. tract of your puppy, it can easily spread up through the system and into the lungs and if unchecked, it can cause pneumonia and eventually death. The first signs of coccidia is usually a lack of eating properly accompanied by a loose stinky stool and sometimes escalating into bouts of hypoglycemia. Coccidia can be transmitted to humans if hands are not washed and contaminated utensils are handled improperly. Coccidia should never be allowed to progress to a point that the puppy's life is threatened. If your puppy shows signs of this disease, immediately seek professional advice and treatment

Nutri-Cal:
This is a dietary supplement that we insist all owners buy before picking up the puppy or from us when we meet. It is a high calorie supplement for finicky eaters or puppies who are not hungry due to the stress of being in a new environment. All puppies must consume nutrition daily! Do not think that they can catch up the next day. The tiny ones cannot go a day without! Nutri-Cal comes in a toothpaste sized bottle and easily squeezes out so that you can place it on the puppy's tongue. Pups find the gel extremely tasty. One of it's main byproducts is corn syrup so it can also prevent the puppy from becoming hypoglemic.

Health Guarantee:
Your puppy is guaranteed to be in good health and free of disease at the time of pick-up or delivery. We strongly recommend the new owner take the puppy to a veterinarian of their choice within the first 48 hours. Please send a note or e-mail of the results of the exam so we can keep it on file. If a problem is found at this time, buyer may return the puppy along with a report from their vet explaining why the pup is not suited for sale. A credit of the price paid for the pup will be given towards the purchase of the next available puppy. This guarantee does not cover cosmetic flaws, mental stress, or any condition that is minor or common in puppies/canines and can be corrected easily by a veterinarian. This includes hypoglycemia, luxating patellas, hernias, testicle issues or open fontanels which are common and not a genetic trait of some small breeds. To qualify for our health guarantee, you must take the pup to the vet within the first 48 hours and the pup must be clear of any obvious problems. We will guarantee the puppy till he/she is one year in age. If within this period, your puppy is found to have a life threatening congenital health defect (heart, liver), the buyer may return the puppy with a report from their veterinarian, for a credit of the price paid for the puppy towards the next available puppy of buyers choice. Should a death occur within this period, an autopsy at the buyers expense must be performed to determine the cause was a congenital defect. If the autopsy confirms it was a congenital defect, the autopsy report would need to be provided to us for a credit of the price paid for the puppy towards the next available puppy. No cash refunds will be given for any reason. The buyer is responsible for veterinary and transport charges at all times.

We also can not guarantee that the puppy will definitely be able to conceive or produce or whether he/she will be of show quality. We will estimate size/personality/color as accurately as possible. Pups do not come with their own set of instructions and we can’t tell you exactly how they will turn out. We’ve provided these pups with a wonderful start at it’s up to you to nurture and teach him/her into want you would like him/her to be. Please realize that your puppy can be stressed by travel, adjusting to a new home, changing diets, etc. and this can bring on problems including hypoglycemia, worms, coccidiosis, etc. We have no control over the puppy’s new environment and these things are the buyers responsibility.

Congratulations and please remember that buying a puppy is making a commitment to care for it’s entire life, which can possibly be the next 15 years!
